Free noindex checker

Find out if a page tells search engines not to index it, and whether its canonical tag points somewhere else.

We load the address you type to check it, and we do not keep your results. After a few checks in an hour, Cloudflare Turnstile may ask you to confirm you are a person.

What this tool checks

  • Noindex or nofollow in the robots meta tag
  • Noindex in the X-Robots-Tag header
  • The page status code and redirects
  • The canonical tag, and whether it points to the same page

Why it matters

A noindex tag keeps a page out of search results. It is useful for thank-you pages and useless on pages you want found. A wrong canonical tag can quietly hide the right page, so this tool shows both.

How to read your result

  • No noindex found means the page is allowed to be indexed. It does not mean Google has indexed it.
  • Noindex can sit in the robots meta tag or in the X-Robots-Tag header. We check both.
  • A canonical pointing elsewhere asks Google to index that other address instead.
  • A status such as 404 or 500 means the page cannot be indexed.

Common problems and fixes

  • Noindex on a page you want found. Remove the tag or header, then ask Google to recrawl the page.
  • Noindex set in an HTTP header. Check your server or plugin settings. It does not show in the page source.
  • Canonical to a different page. Point it at this page, or accept that the other page will be shown.
  • Noindex on a page blocked by robots.txt. Google cannot see the tag on a blocked page. Allow crawling so the tag is seen.

Questions about the noindex checker

What does noindex mean?

Noindex tells search engines not to show a page in search results. It can be set in a robots meta tag or in an HTTP header.

How can I tell if a page is noindex?

Enter its address here. The tool reads the robots meta tag and the X-Robots-Tag header and tells you.

What is a canonical tag?

A canonical tag names the preferred address for a page when several addresses show the same content. Search engines use it to choose which one to keep.

Can SEOSage find every noindex page on my site?

Yes. A crawl lists pages blocked by noindex, and flags noindex pages that are still listed in the sitemap.
