Free tools / Schema markup validator

Free schema markup validator

Enter a page. The tool reads its JSON-LD structured data, checks that it can be parsed, and lists the fields Google asks for that are missing.

We load the address you type to check it, and we do not keep your results. After a few checks in an hour, Cloudflare Turnstile may ask you to confirm you are a person.

What this tool checks

  • Finds every JSON-LD block in the page source
  • Tells you if a block is not valid JSON, and where it breaks
  • Lists each item and its type, including items inside a graph
  • Checks the fields Google lists for Article, Product, Organization, LocalBusiness, FAQ, Breadcrumb, Event, Recipe and Video
  • Lists the types found in microdata

Why it matters

Structured data tells search engines what a page is about, such as a product, an article or a set of questions. If the code has an error, Google ignores it and the page cannot earn a rich result.

How to read your result

  • Each block is one script of JSON-LD. A block that is not valid JSON is ignored by Google.
  • Each item shows its type. Items inside a graph are listed one by one.
  • The Rich result column says whether Google can show an enhanced result for that type. No means the code is valid but earns no rich result.
  • Fix means a field Google needs is missing. Check means a recommended field is missing.
  • Microdata is listed by type only. Its fields are not checked.

Common problems and fixes

  • A block is not valid JSON. Look for a missing comma, a stray quote or a trailing comma near the place named in the message.
  • Product without an offer, review or rating. Add offers with a price and currency, or an aggregateRating or review.
  • FAQ question without an answer. Give every Question a name and an acceptedAnswer with text.
  • No JSON-LD found but you added it. It may be added by JavaScript. Put it in the page source instead.

Questions about the schema markup validator

What is schema markup?

Schema markup is code that describes a page in a standard vocabulary from schema.org, so search engines can tell what it is: an article, a product, an event, a list of questions and so on.

What is JSON-LD?

JSON-LD is a way to write structured data as a block of code inside a script tag, apart from the words on the page. Google prefers it because it is simple to add, edit and test.

Is this the same as Google Rich Results Test?

No. This tool reads the page source and checks the fields Google lists for common types. It cannot tell you if a page will win a rich result. For that, also use Google Rich Results Test.

Google says no items detected, but this tool found schema. Why?

Google shows a rich result only for some types, such as Article, Product, FAQ, Breadcrumb, Event, Recipe and Video. Organization, WebSite and WebPage are valid but earn no rich result, so Google reports no items. The Rich result column in this tool tells you which types count.

Why does it say no JSON-LD found?

The tool reads the page source, as a crawler first does. If your structured data is added by JavaScript after the page loads, or the page has none, nothing shows here.

Can SEOSage check structured data for a whole website?

Yes. A crawl flags JSON-LD that cannot be read, and common types that are missing fields Google asks for, on every page it finds.
