Questions about the SEO crawler
What is an SEO crawler?
An SEO crawler is a program that follows the links on a website, page by page, the way a search engine bot does, and records what it finds. SEOSage turns that record into a list of problems, such as broken links, missing titles, redirect chains and pages blocked from Google.
Is there a page limit?
No. SEOSage has no page cap and no monthly crawl quota, so a crawl runs until it has visited every page it can reach or you press Stop. Large sites take longer and need more memory on your computer.
Can it crawl JavaScript websites?
Yes. With Render JavaScript turned on in a site's settings, SEOSage loads each page in a browser and reads the content that scripts add. It makes the crawl about four times slower, so switch it on only for sites that need it.
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. SEOSage is a desktop app for Mac and Windows. The crawl runs on your own computer, and your crawl results stay there.
How is a desktop crawler different from a cloud SEO tool?
A cloud tool crawls from its own servers and often limits pages by plan. A desktop crawler runs on your computer, so you set the speed and rules, crawl staging sites you can sign in to, and keep the results.
Can I crawl a site that needs a password?
Yes. Add a username and password in the site's settings for password-protected or staging sites. SEOSage keeps them on your computer only.
