Compare crawls and watch your health score over time
Compare crawls in the SEOSage desktop app for Mac and Windows. After a site's second crawl, Compare shows what changed between the two latest crawls: the health score, the counts, and which issues were fixed, which are new and which changed. Crawl history keeps every crawl in a table and in charts.

See what changed between two crawls
Compare is in a site's menu, under Insights. It stays greyed out until the site has two crawls. Crawl history is under More in the same menu. Use it after you fix issues or change the site, to see what moved.
Health then 71 · Health now 76
What Compare and Crawl history show
- Health then and now: The health score of the earlier crawl and of the latest one, from 0 to 100
- Site metrics: Health score, pages crawled, redirects, broken pages, errors, warnings, notices and average load time, each with the number then, the number now and the difference
- Fixed: Issues the earlier crawl had that the latest crawl does not, with how many pages were cleared
- New: Issues that were not there before, with the number of pages affected
- Changed: Issues in both crawls where the number of pages changed, shown as before and after. Errors come before warnings and notices in each list
- Three charts: Health score, pages crawled and total issues over your crawls, each with the latest number and how it changed since the crawl before
- A table of crawls: One row for each crawl, newest first: date, health score with its change, pages, crawl time, redirects, broken pages, errors, warnings, notices and average load time
- Look back at an older crawl: On the Dashboard, the Last crawl tag lists the earlier crawls. Pick one to see its health score and key numbers as they were
Good to know
Compare always uses the two latest crawls of a site. You cannot pick two older ones.
Compare counts issues and pages. It does not list what changed on each page. For titles, headings, canonicals and redirects, use change tracking.

Questions about this check
What does Compare show?
The health score of your two latest crawls, eight site metrics with the difference for each, and three lists of issues: Fixed, New and Changed. Each issue shows how many pages it touches.
How is it different from change tracking?
Compare looks at totals: the health score, the counts and which issues were fixed, new or changed. Change tracking looks at the pages themselves and lists each page whose title, heading, description, canonical address, indexing, word count or redirect changed.
Why is Compare greyed out?
It needs two crawls of the same site. Run at least two crawls, and it opens.
How is the health score worked out?
It goes from 0 to 100. Each type of issue costs points, more for an error than for a warning or a notice, and more the larger the share of pages it touches. A score of 80 or more shows green and under 50 shows red.
Can I compare older crawls?
Compare uses the two latest crawls. To look back, open Crawl history, or use the Last crawl tag on the Dashboard to see an older crawl's health score and key numbers.
What if I stopped a crawl?
A stopped crawl is saved to Crawl history with the pages it found and a Crawl did not finish warning. Compare uses the two latest crawls.
